This year's International Children's Day (June 1) sees the charity Lumos launch its biggest ever fundraising initiative.

The Light A Birthday Candle For Lumos campaign raises funds for children in residential institutions in Eastern and Central Europe, hoping that next year they might celebrate their birthdays in family-based care. Celebrities including Simon Rimmer and Phil Vickery have already offered their support to candle-themed events taking place around the UK.
